Another cover option was more subtle: A shadowy demon skull emerged from a Blackfield, its eyes and title highlighted in red. Although I like the minimalist approach, I believe Twitter chose the fast-moving, intense battle scene. Doom’s standard packaging art, as shown below, has less to offer than its counterpart. The positive side is that the box’s superior design doesn’t have to be obscured by ratings signs or other standard-issue clutter. Doom will be out on May 13th.
